Global Distribution System (GDS) FAQs

Your frequently asked questions on the GDS, answered

TrustedStays is the first platform in the UK to offer verified short-term rental homes through the Global Distribution System (GDS). This means travel managers, TMCs and government departments can now book flexible, compliant accommodation via Amadeus — just like they would a hotel. Whether you're organising corporate stays, relocation housing or public sector travel, our platform bridges the gap between premium rentals and professional booking tools.

What is a GDS and how does it work?

A GDS (Global Distribution System) is a network that enables travel agencies and corporate bookers to access and book travel services (hotels, flights, car rentals) in real time. It connects suppliers directly with buyers.

How is a GDS different to an OTA?

GDS primarily serves B2B channels (travel agents, Travel Management Companies, corporate bookers), while OTAs are consumer-facing platforms. GDS bookings often involve shorter stay that check-in between Monday to Thursday.

Who uses GDS platforms to make bookings?

Corporate travel managers, business travellers, relocation specialists, government departments, and traditional travel agencies.

What is Amadeus?

Amadeus is one of the world’s leading Global Distribution Systems (GDS). TrustedStays has an exclusive agreement with Amadeus that enables us to onboard home-style individual properties and multi-unit buildings alongside global hotel brands. Through this partnership, your properties gain fast and seamless access to Amadeus’s extensive network.

From Amadeus, your listings are also filtered to other GDS platforms such as Pegasus and Sabre, further expanding your reach without any extra effort on your part.

Is there a cost to be listed on the GDS?

Yes, there is a cost involved in listing your properties on the GDS. However, thanks to our exclusive partnership, you won’t find a more cost-effective way to get on the GDS anywhere else.

To ease any concerns, we offer a money-back guarantee: if you don’t earn back your subscription fees within the first year, we’ll refund the difference*. It’s our way of showing confidence in the value TrustedStays delivers.

What are the commission rates like?

Commissions can typically range from 10–25%, depending on the commission rate and GDS subscription. While corporate rates can sometimes be lower and stays shorter, you're accessing incremental bookings you wouldn’t otherwise get. For leisure-focused travel agents, higher mark-ups are often expected, and they’ll typically select properties priced to accommodate their commission.

Can I set different rates for GDS channels?

Yes, you can set different rates for GDS channels to suit your business strategy. This flexibility lets you tailor pricing for corporate clients, travel agents, or other buyer types to maximise bookings and revenue.

How do I connect my properties to a GDS?

TrustedStays makes it easy to get your properties onto the GDS. If you’re using a supported Property Management System (PMS) or channel manager, we can get you live in as little as three weeks.

Trying to go direct is slow, complex, and expensive. GDS platforms don’t natively support onboarding individual properties or home-style accommodation–that’s exactly why the TrustedStays connection exists.

What if my current PMS doesn’t support GDS?

You can have your developers build directly into TrustedStays though your own open connection. This can take just a few weeks in some cases!

How often is availability and pricing updated?

Updates happen in real time. Your property’s availability and pricing sync instantly through the platform, ensuring bookings are always based on the most current information.

What kind of guests will GDS bring me?

Primarily business travellers, government employees, or high-net-worth individuals booking through agents – typically seeking reliability, consistency, and privacy.

Do I need to offer daily housekeeping or 24/7 reception?

Not necessarily – but clear information about check-in processes, emergency contact, and cleaning schedules is crucial.

Are corporate guests more demanding?

Corporates tend to be less demanding than leisure guests through they require certain initial provisions. Corporates are usually looking for a bed and their own space with peace and quiet, not a holiday experience.

Are there specific requirements for health, safety, and insurance?

Yes, TrustedStays carries out quality assurance checks to ensure all suppliers meet minimum health, safety, and insurance standards. These are essential for corporate travel. We also offer third-party accreditation through our partnership with Quality in Tourism.

Do I need to sign a contract to list on a GDS?

If you were to list on the GDS yourself there are many hoops you have to jump through to get there. With our unique agreement with Amadeus, that means you don’t have to go through all the paperwork pain.

How long does it take to start seeing bookings?

Once your enquiry is submitted, you could be live and receiving bookings in as little as two weeks (our fastest turnaround to date).

After going live and optimising your listings (with corporate-friendly pricing, availability and content), many suppliers start seeing traction within 30-60 days.
